Montreal, which was known as Ville-Marie when it was founded on May 17, 1642 Celebrates 375 today.
Come out and celebrate Montreal’s 375th birthday with a series of festivals and events! One of the biggest celebrations was the illumination of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, which honoured both Canada’s and Montreal’s birthdays. On July 1, Montrealers will gather in the Old Port to celebrate with an assortment of free events and activities — and a giant cake!
