Role Summary
- Primary responsibilities will be to provide implementation, maintenance, and support to an IPTV service delivered to residential and commercial customers.
- This position requires the following diversity of functions to be performed as needed: monitoring, supporting, designing, staging, installation, troubleshooting and resolving. Support will entail Level 2 escalation during and outside of normal business hours.
- The position will require travel to customer locations and data center facilities.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience in Applied Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) OR other vendor equivalent, OR relevant experience - Knowledge of telecommunications fundamentals
- Experience with video and video distribution, IP CCTV accepted
- Understanding of network technologies (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Firewalls, Switches) and protocols (IPv4/IPv6, IGMP, PIM, HTTP)
Ability to provide technical and operational guidance to the IP and IT teams - Ethernet networking, both electrical and optical
- Problem-solving under critical situations
- Excellent written and oral communication in English and French
Preferred Qualifications and Competencies
- Knowledge of audio and video CODECs, containers and formats
- Experience with server management and OS administration
- Experience with IRDs, Encoders/decoders, Transcoders, Origin servers, Packagers, Streamers, Middleware, DRM/CAS
- Knowledge of unicast and multicast video traffic
- Experience with streaming of packetized video, MPEG TS, UDP multicast, SPTS/MPTS
- Capability to perform essential technical activities without direct supervision
Experience with larger enterprise IP networks and related networking equipment
Positive service-oriented attitude
Ability to be self-reliant
